Romantic Decoration Ideas and Cocooning Touch in The Interior

Romantic Decoration Ideas

Decor for a romantic and cocooning touch in the interior. A touch of melancholy and yet very romantic, autumn, queen of colors and scents, could sometimes be sad but has something to delight all our senses. And besides, recent research designates autumn as the true season of love, contrary to popular belief attributing this fame to spring.

One more reason to draw inspiration from this charming season which also pushes us to further cocoon our interiors by decorating them with all kinds of thematic details in autumnal colors. In the following lines, we will help you stock up on fall decorating ideas with a few crafts that you could even make on your own.

Flower pots filled with autumnal aromas to decorate and embalm

Materials needed:

  • Small flower pots
  • Small flower pots saucers
  • Powder pink acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Fine paintbrush
  • Soft cloth
  • Coffee beans
  • Small candles
  • Cinnamon sticks

Step by step realization:

1. Start by preparing the outer surface of the terracotta pots by sanding them with sandpaper to remove any imperfections. Next, clean with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

2. In a cup, pour a small amount of the powder pink paint and then add a few drops of water to dilute it. There are no exact proportions to follow because everything will depend on the degree of opacity you would like to achieve.

3. Using any brush, coat the outside of the terracotta pot and saucer with the diluted paint mixture and wipe off immediately with a clean, dry cloth. The longer you let the paint sit there without wiping, the more opaque the character of the paint will be.

4. Now, you can further decorate and customize the exterior of the jar. For this purpose, we chose to make a frieze of peas. For these, the powder pink paint is mixed with white paint to obtain a soft creamy shade. And as for the realization of the frieze itself, it suffices to paint four points in a rectangular diagram by going around the pot. Then draw another dot inside each rectangle, and you’re done.

5. Finally, place each jar in an earthenware saucer and fill it with coffee beans. As a top, reserve a little space to store a candle and a cinnamon stick and easy landscape drawing.

Recycled glass jar candle holder decorated with autumn leaves

Decor for a romantic and cocooning touch in the interior

Materials needed:

  • Glass pot
  • Artificial autumn leaves
  • Matte finish glue varnish
  • Foam brush

Step by step realization:

1. Raise your small pot to remove any grease or dirt. Then, rub the surface of an alcohol-soaked cloth so that the leaves can better attach to the pot’s surface afterward.

2. Using your foam brush, then coat the pot with varnish glue (the surface to be covered with it must be large enough to accommodate the autumn leaf).

3. Let the adhesive sit several times, which is supposed to improve its adhesion. Then carefully squeeze the sheet on it.

4. Then repeat the same operation with other artificial autumn leaves until you make a complete turn of the pot. If a piece of foil is having trouble sticking, please help it by pressing lightly with the foam brush, which will undoubtedly keep some glue residue.

5. Once the entire pot is covered, let it dry well. Then apply a new coat of glue varnish. The next day, let it dry again and place a light inside the pot to complete your fall candle holder.

A pumpkin-like no other made from recycled glass jar lids

Materials needed:

  • 21 opening glass jar lids
  • Acrylic paint in orange color (spray paint to make it easier)
  • Brush
  • Fake autumn leaves
  • Gold spray paint
  • Varnish
  • Wool or twine

Step by step realization:

1. Start by repainting the opening lids in orange color using spray paint or simple paint in a tube. To add more interest to your creation, you can still think about repainting various shades of orange to create an ombre effect. Let dry well for a few hours and then treat with varnish to preserve the painted surface.

2. Then, thread all the covers onto a piece of wool or string, making sure they all face the same direction. Tie a knot at the end and tighten securely. Then, space the lids so that they are arranged in the shape of a pumpkin.

3. As a stalk at the end, you can put fake fall leaves (repaint with gold paint if you want) or cinnamon sticks.

Macrame wall with small autumn decorations to decorate the front door

Materials needed:

  • Copper tube (1 cm in diameter)
  • Pipe cutter
  • Wool of various colors and textures
  • Scissors
  • Fake flowers and branches
  • Armful of twigs
  • Wirecutter
  • Semi-transparent adhesive tape
  • Gold colored metallic thread
  • Hammer
  • Nail

Step by step realization:

1. Cut the copper tubing to the desired length using the tubing cutter. Forty centimeters, for example, is a good length.

2. Cut the wool into offcuts of varying lengths, which should, however, be closer to 60 cm. Depending on the type of yarn you are using, you will need 25-35 threads.

3. Tie the lengths of wool to the tube by making a lark’s head knot. The knot in question being to be made by folding the strands of wool in half, the length of the fringe formed subsequently would be about thirty centimeters. Finally, attach the opposite ends of a long piece of wool to the two ends of the copper tube so that you can then hang the macrame.

4. Then, cut the stems of the false flowers and branches using your wire cutter. Arrange the flowers on the branches and attach them to the copper tube using clear tape.

5. Wrap the gold-colored metallic thread around the flower arrangement and let the excess hang down. Then, to further secure the floral arrangement to the copper tube, wrap this excess yarn around it between wool knots.

6. Finally, hang the pretty creation on the door and be sure to give the season of color the attention it deserves.
